The Benefits of Joint Commission Accreditation

Accreditation is a periodic evaluation by experts that provides evidence on the quality of care, treatment, or services delivered to the persons we treat.

Joint Commission accreditation is a demonstration to the clients we serve, their families, and our staff of Just Believe Recovery’s commitment to safe and high quality care through our treatment and recovery services.

Accreditation by the Joint Commission is, in essence, a seal of approval, testifying to the quality and effectiveness of our services.

What is the Joint Commission?

The Joint Commission is an independent, non-profit group that accredits and certifies 21,000 health care programs and organizations across the country.

Joint Commission accreditation is acknowledged nationwide as a symbol of excellence, which recognizes an organization’s ability to competently maintain certain performance standards.

According to the website, the Joint Commission’s mission is:

To continuously improve health care for the public, in collaboration with other stakeholders, by evaluating health care organizations and inspiring them to excel in providing safe and effective care of the highest quality and value.

The commission develops standards of performance which make up the important aspects of operation, including:

  • Patient care
  • Medication safety
  • Consumer rights

How Does Joint Accreditation Affect You?

When you are treated at Just Believe Recovery, you will be assured that we must work each day to uphold our accreditation. This means that we must perform up to standards not required by a facility without accreditation.

In essence, Joint Commission Accreditation means that as a client, you will be receiving the best care available.

Who Can Get Joint Commission Accreditation?

Joint Commission accreditation can be obtained by many different types of health care organizations, including hospitals, physicians, nursing homes, home care providers, and addiction treatment facilities (such as Just Believe Recovery).

Requirements

  1. To uphold our accreditation, Just Believe Recovery must be prepared for an onsite evaluation completed by the Joint Commission, group at least once every 3 years.
  2. These evaluations are designed for each individual organization. They are used to evaluate and guide performance, including patient safety, treatment, and care quality.
  3. The Joint Commission’s standards encompass an in-depth development process, which includes professional advising, creation of standards, and reviews of external experts.
  4. After these procedures, our accreditation application was approved by the Joint Commission’s board. Expectations set for performance are considered to be reasonable, achievable, and surveyable.
