What is PRO-ACT?
“For 40 years The Council of Southeast Pennsylvania, Inc., has provided resources to reduce the impact of addiction, trauma, and related health issues through prevention, consultation, education, advocacy, assessment, intervention, and recovery support services. Pennsylvania Recovery Organization—Achieving Community Together (PRO-ACT), hosted by The Council is the grass roots advocacy and recovery support arm of the Council.”
Over 25,000 attended the event in 2015. You can also visit them on Facebook.
The Impact of Addiction
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA’s) National Survey on Drug Use and Health, over 23 million persons age 12 or older needed treatment for an illicit drug or alcohol abuse problem in 2009. Of these, only 2.6 million (or 11.2%) of those needing treatment received it at a specialty facility.
